So I'm wondering if there is any other PS3 Controller Drivers out there which I can install offline and are more reliable. It's not as robust as MotionInJoy, as it doesn't allow me to remap the buttons to key-presses (which is annoying, as some games such as Melty Blood don't seem to recognize some of the input values)

As one final note, the DS3 tool must be opened up and the newly created profile applied with the controller plugged in each time you startup your computer before you play Disgaea 2 PC in order for the controller to be properly recognized.I know of two driver/software combos that allow me to use my PS3 controller as a PC gamepad: Once the buttons are setup ingame, the left analogue should be able to use used normally. As a consequence of this process the game will display Xbox 360 controller button icons instead of the regular generic buttons you would get for any other controller. Now that you are finished setting up Better DS3 Tool, simply start up Disgaea 2 PC and setup the controller buttons in the options menu accordingly. In short, what this accomplished is that it will trick your PC into thinking that the controller connected is actually a Xbox 360 controller instead of a PS3 controller, allowing all the inputs to be used. At the Better DS3 Tool menu select the newly created profile from the dropdown for selected profile and then click the apply button. Then at the bottom righthand side of the profile setup menu there should be a save profile button click it and you are done setting up the controller profile. At the top of the screen there should be an autofill button for Xbox 360 controller inputs select this button and all the inputs for the controller should be automatically filled out. Name the profile something easy to remember like "PS3 Controller". Once there select the new button and select xinput from the dropdown menu.
